Prayer for safety.

With more and more people being trafficked daily, the problem can seem overbearing. How can we begin to help? One thing we know for sure is that prayer helps. So how can we pray for trafficked people? Here are some ideas for intercessory prayer for trafficked people and prayer for safety.

To address this, let’s look at some Bible verses about modern day slavery first.

1. Romans 8:20-21

“For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. “

2. Galatians 3:28

“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

3. Isaiah 1:17

“Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.”

4. Genesis 1:27

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

5. 1 Corinthians 3:16

“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”

From this we know that each person has dignity and value, and that slavery and trafficking contradict that. We know that trafficking breaks God’s heart. So what kind of intercessory prayer for trafficked people should we pray? Here are a few ideas on what to pray for:

1. Rescue & Justice

2. Safety & Recovery

3. Comfort & Hope in the Lord

4. Empowerment for those fighting this

After reading these Bible verses about trafficking, we have a better idea of how to engage trafficked people around the world and pray for them. We should pray an intercessory prayer for trafficked people for all of the needs above.

Additionally, Venture and our partners identify and intercept women and children who are vulnerable to trafficking. You can read more about the problem here and about our work here and here.
